1. Am I in the right room? To help students find the right classroom on
the first day of school, I will have a sign posted on the classroom door and on
the chalkboard with my name and class subject.
I will also be standing by the door helping students get to the correct
classroom.
2. Where am I supposed to sit? When students arrive in my classroom, I will ask them to sit along the first table to wait for directions. After going over classroom rules, I will assign them a computer.
3. What are the rules in this classroom? On the first day of class, I will review all classroom rules with the students, and hand them a hardcopy to be signed by their parents.
4. What will I be doing this year? I will teach students classroom procedures during the first two weeks of school. This will include how to enter the classroom, how to request help, how to request a restroom break, and how to exit the classroom.
5. How will I be graded? When I give the first assignment, I will go over my grading philosophy. Students earn their own grade based on their mastery of the learning criteria.
6. Who is the teacher as a person? I will create a personality bulletin board containing a collage of personal items such as pictures and objects about my life, work, and family.
7. Will the teacher treat me as a human being? I will treat all students with respect by greeting students at the door, dressing professionally, having an organized classroom, and being prepared with classroom management and lessons.
